2024: a record year for Mitsubishi in Canada
The story of Mitsubishi's Canadian division is an incredible one. Established in the early 2000s, it has gone through difficult times, but has always bounced back stronger than ever. Today, it is a...
Action Mitsubishi
Recently, we told you about the plan Mitsubishi unveiled for the years leading up to the end of this decade. The “Momentum 2030” approach is in fact a precise workbook that will see a completely new or renewed model every year between now and 2030, starting with the year 2026.
In the meantime, 2025 is just around the corner, and the company recently announced the changes it would be making to certain models in the range for the coming year.
Let's take a look together.
Basically, changes are planned for four models: the two versions of the Outlander (petrol and hybrid), as well as the two compact SUVs, the Eclipse Cross and the RVR.
Broadly speaking, the improvements relate to safety, occupant comfort and connectivity.
Let's go model by model.
Mitsubishi promises Canadian drivers an even more refined driving experience in the coming year. Flagship models such as the Outlander PHEV, gasoline-powered Outlander, Eclipse Cross and RVR all benefit from significant improvements in comfort, safety and connectivity.
Let's take a look at what's new in each for the coming year.
Outlander 2025
The regular version of the Outlander will benefit from a mid-cycle upgrade. Remember that it made its debut for the 2022 model year, so for its fourth go-round it will be slightly refreshed, both inside and out. The design will be tweaked a little, but for now, little is known about the exact changes that will be made.
More details about this version of the Outlander will follow.
Outlander PHEV 2025
For the hybrid version, more information is available. We know, for example, that the company will be offering a new variant (SE) for the new year. It will take up the space between the ES and LE liveries. It offers additional equipment to the ES version, such as LED fog lights, silver front and rear skid plates, a panoramic sunroof, and heated exterior mirrors that can be folded down electrically.
The model is still powered by its 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine, which offers 248 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque thanks to the contribution of electric motors. The 20 kWh battery still promises an all-electric range of 61 kilometers.
And when it comes to Mitsubishi's industry-leading S-AWC (Super-All Wheel Control) all-wheel drive system, it's even more effective with the Outlander PHEV variant, thanks to its partially electric configuration.
RVR 2025
The RVR adds an interesting safety feature in the form of a rear seat alert. Unfortunately, as error is human, incidents where animals or children may be left behind are always possible. With the alert, we add a layer of safety to avoid unfortunate, even tragic, incidents.
Eclipse Cross 2025
Finally, with the Eclipse Cross 2025, which retains its unique and distinctive styling, it also benefits from the addition of the rear seat alert, now offered as standard. As for the popular Black Edition, it returns with, as the name suggests, black accents that add to the character of the design.
And like all the other models, the S-AWC all-wheel drive system is of course included.
As you can see, Mitsubishi is not resting on its laurels for 2025, even though it is preparing major changes for 2026, when it will be making a host of changes to its range.
