2024: a record year for Mitsubishi in Canada
The story of Mitsubishi's Canadian division is an incredible one. Established in the early 2000s, it has gone through difficult times, but has always bounced back stronger than ever. Today, it is a...
Action Mitsubishi
It's always interesting to compare similar vehicles across the industry. It allows us to measure the evolution of each one and determine which one is ahead of the other, but also, which one represents the best choice for consumers.
With a product like the Mitsubishi RVR, one might think that the model is at a disadvantage compared to all its competitors, simply because of its advanced age on the market. We can't lie in this respect: the RVR was introduced in 2011. It's been improved since then, of course, but it hasn't undergone a complete overhaul.
So, measuring it against Chevrolet's Trailblazer, one might get the impression that it's in an inferior position. And yet...
The Chevrolet Trailblazer made its debut in 2021. It's obvious from a design point of view, it looks more modern. However, the RVR has nothing to envy it in terms of character.
Mechanically, the Trailblazer can be served by two engines: 1.2 and 1.3-liter turbocharged 3-cylinders. Quite frankly, they aren't very convincing, especially since, in the long term, they worry experts because of their apparent fragility.
With the RVR, you also have two choices of powertrain: sturdy 2.0- and 2.4-liter naturally-aspirated 4-cylinders. Power output is similar from one company to another, but what's obvious - and proven - is that the RVR's mechanicals are reliable and very durable. For anyone looking for a model that will offer excellent long-term value, it's clear that you're better served with the RVR in this respect.
When it comes to interior design, we're staying at two different addresses. Whereas the Traiblazer is all about screens and touch controls, the Mitsubishi product has a more traditional approach, with good old-fashioned buttons on the center console. If we had to bet on the risk of problems that could potentially be encountered with the two vehicles, it's clear that we'd put our money on the Chevrolet model as being... the more at risk.
What kind of experience would you like? Especially since the Mitsubishi RVR offers everything you need in the way of connectivity.
Finally, there's the all-wheel drive. The two companies' four-wheel drive systems are polar opposites in terms of refinement and quality of execution. We don't disparage the Trailblazer's all-wheel drive as much as we praise that of the RVR. Mitsubishi, it should be remembered, developed its technology thanks to its experience in rally competition.
In the middle of a storm, it shows up on the road, adding to the feeling of safety you get behind the wheel of this model.
And we haven't even mentioned the 10-year or 160,000 km warranty that Mitsubishi offers on its RVR powertrain. Chevrolet would be taking too many risks by offering such protection.
That's how much safer the Mitsubishi RVR is.
Come and see for yourself at the dealership, and see why so many people choose the Mitsubishi RVR, and why so many people buy a second or third one.

Comparing models is always an interesting exercise, as it sometimes allows us to dispel myths. For example, Honda enjoyed great success with the first-generation HR-V SUV. You'd think, then, that...
Since its renewal, the Chevrolet Trax has earned a number of industry accolades. And it's fully deserved; General Motors has done a good job here. But is this new, more modern model a better buy...
